Radar Observer

A radar observer endorsement is required on all inspected licenses greater than 200 tons and on
licenses as master or mate of towing vessels, when engaged in the operation of a towing vessel
greater than 26 feet in length, and on any license with an oceans route.

Radar observer endorsements are issued as unlimited (all waters), inland (all inland waters), or
rivers (inland rivers only).

Radar observer endorsements are valid for a period of five years and must be renewed through
completion of an approved training program.

5-day Radar Observer Course

This course satisfies the USCG requirements for an original issue of an Unlimited Radar Observer
Endorsement.

USCG Approval

Any applicant who has successfully completed you 5-day Radar Observer (Unlimited) course
will satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR 10.480 for an endorsement as Radar Observer
(Unlimited).

1-day Radar Observer Recertification Course

This course satisfies the USCG requirements for the renewal of any radar observer endorsement.

USCG Approval

Any applicant who has successfully completed your 1-day Radar Observer Recertification
course will satisfy the requirements of 46 CFR 10.480(d) for renewal of any Radar Observer
endorsement.
